Friday 11/1/02:  HFES Halloween Party and International Potluck

This year we decided to mix the international potluck with a Halloween theme.  Suzanne was kind enough to offer her residence for the festivities.  Dishes from all over the country were shared by all while those in costumes (as well as Suzanne's cats) provided the entertainment.  Check out the pictures here:  International Halloween Potluck Pictures

Saturday 9/7/02: Fall Picnic & First Regular Meeting of the Semester

This years annual fall picnic will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2002 from 11:00-3:00 at Blacksburg municipal park shelter 3. This is a pot-luck, so please bring a dish to share. We'll have American foods, as well as tasty dishes from across the globe. HFES will provide drinks and the supplies.  You're welcome and encouraged to bring family and friends along.  Additionally there will be several fun games such as a tugawar and three legged race.  Of course no fall picnic would be complete without the traditional SOCCER game!!  This year we hope to start a new trend that doesn’t include somebody visiting the doctor’s office.

As always this will be a great time for new students to meet returning students and faculty.  Additionally we will also be holding our first regular chapter meeting.  As such, please try to attend the picnic no later than 11:30 so we can begin the meeting.  The actual meeting will not last long.   Topics will include mentor introductions, forums, future meeting time, dues (please bring $10 if you have not paid this year), and semester planning.

A map is provided below for those who don't know where this picnic is located.  If you need transportation please contact one of the officers listed in the contacts page.
