    The first meeting of the semester was used to introduce the new officers and plan the activities for the semester.

    Meeting agenda will be covered from 3:30pm - 4:00pm. Representatives of SBC Communications will talk from 4:00pm - 4:30pm and sign up interested parties for interviews. In addition, information will provided regarding Project S.A.F.E.

Engineering Open House

Squires Commonwealth Ballroom - April 17, 2000
The annual Engineering Open House recruiting event provides an opportunity to showcase career and leadership opportunities within the various Engineering fields.  All Engineering student organizations are welcome to host Open House booths in the Commonwealth Ballroom in Squires. HFES will host a booth, providing literature and information to interested attendees.  Approximately 1000-1500 visitors are expected!  Student volunteers staff the booth throughout the day to field any questions and hand out literature.

Mentoring Program 

    The Human Factors graduate students graciously volunteer their time as mentors for students who have been recently accepted into our program. In addition, the officers of the HFES Student Chapter coordinate visits and lab tours for individuals who may be interested in applying to our program in the future. Design Competition

    Whittemore 5th Floor Navigation Contest
    Systems were designed that could be implemented on the 5th floor of Whittemore Hall to help guide individuals looking for laboratories and offices. Prizes were distributed to the best designs at the Spring Picnic.

Intramurals 

    Basketball Team "Rabbits With Fangs"
    Approximately 15 Human Factors graduate students comprise the coed intramural basketball team.  The team has had success during the regular season winning two of their three games. Playoffs were the week of February 20. Even though the team did not advance in the playoffs, everyone had fun and new friends were made.

Fundraisers 

    Car Wash - April 22, 2000
    HFES collected donations while washing cars from 11:00am to 3:00pm at Blacksburg's Advance Auto Parts at 800 North Main Street.
